SEP Declaration: No to Another “Talibanistan” in Syria

SEP Declaration: No to Another “Talibanistan” in Syria

Those who think that the right moment has come for the completion of the regime change project in Syria have pressed the red button. Who are those who pushed the button? Israel and Turkey! Who are those who have established dominance on the ground? HTS (Heyatul Tahrir al-Sham), which was formed after a split in ISIS, and other jihadist gangs. If Assad is overthrown, these sectarianists filled with hatred will certainly slaughter the Alawites and Christians. The Kurds are also on the target list.

It is not surprising for us that Erdoğan’s AKP, whose tears for Palestine are all but a farce, and various Islamist groups pursuing political gains over the Gaza genocide are cooperating with Israel on Syria. Indeed, it is certainly no coincidence that the Islamists’ Aleppo offensive began two days after Netanyahu threatened Assad.

It is clear that the US-Israel front wants to neutralize Iran’s allies and then wait for an opportunity to attack Iran directly. The attack on Aleppo after the massacres in Gaza and Lebanon is a continuation of this project.

There is a dangerous possibility of Syria turning into a new Talibanistan. It will not be surprising when Islamist gangs start an inner war that would turn Syria into the bloodbath of an endless civil war. Imperialist powers are once again dragging the Middle East into sectarian and ethnic slaughter. Also, Lebanon and Iraq are on the target of bloodier scenarios. Such a regime of Afghanistan in Syria will also increase Salafi fanaticism in Turkey.

The only way to battle these dangers is to strengthen the organized struggle. Only as an organized people can we defend our democratic rights and freedoms. In this light, we call all the workers and youth to the organized struggle in our party ranks.

Turkey Hands Off Syria!
