PFLP: George Abdallah is Under Unjust Captivity

George Abdallah, the Lebanese-born PFLP revolutionary, was not released after the hearing in Paris. The release of the Lebanese communist Georges Abdallah from his 40-year detention in France is being obstructed. Despite having met the required conditions since 1999, his release is being delayed by what are described as France’s "interventions." The Court of Appeals' decision, which was scheduled for February 22, has now been postponed until June 19.
The PFLP condemned the decision, asserting that Paris has succumbed to the influence of the United States and Israel. This PFLP statement regarding the unlawful imprisonment of George Abdallah:
“We strongly condemn the decision of French authorities to postpone the judgment regarding the request of our Lebanese comrade George Ibrahim Abdallah’s release until June 19th and the demand for compensation as an excuse.
This unjust decision is not based on any legal or judicial evaluation and confirms once again the complete surrender of Paris to the US and Zionist dictates by making an activist who has dedicated his life to the cause of freedom and justice an open political target.
The fact that our comrade George Abdallah continues to be detained despite having completed his sentence reveals the double standards of the French state, which claims to respect human rights while carrying out systematic injustice and open political collaboration against him.
As the PFLP we emphasize that this decision will not deter the free people from pressing on until our comrade George Abdallah is freed from this unjust captivity. We call on all progressive forces, the free people of the world and the international campaign for his release, both inside and outside France, to intensify popular, political and media action to expose this judicial farce and overt violation of justice.”
