The Statement Issued By 16 Women Political Prisoners From The Evin Prison

We stand by all those who are threatened with the death sentences and we demand the death sentences to be annealed

Tampering with evidence and by making baseless accusations, the labour activist, Sharifeh Mohammadi, has been sentenced to death after seven months of temporary detention, enduring torture, and interrogation in detention centers in different cities [in Iran].

This is not a death sentence handed down to Sharifeh only, but a death sentence to all of "us" the labour, political, civil, human rights, and the women's rights activists.

We see this sentence as a potential danger and a prelude to the issuing of heavy sentences in the coming future.

What more than ever can be seen in this death sentence, is the policy of repression, through which they [the regime} wants to suffocate the voice of decent, political appetency and demands, which had been elevated to a significant level with the revolutionary uprising of 2022, and intimidate and force women who with a louder voice than before staged their plea for justice, into the retreat.

We, a group of political prisoners of the women's ward at the Evin Prison, have heard the voice of the "Defense Campaign for Sharifeh Mohammadi" which has called on all the awakened consciences, to act for the Sharifeh's release.

We stand by Sharifeh and all those who are threatened with the death sentences and demand the death sentences to be annulled.
