Sharifeh Mohammadi, Must Immediately and Unconditionally be Released Now!

The labour and civil rights activist, Sharifeh Mohammadi has been tried by the first branch of the Rasht Revolutionary Court, and has been sentenced to death with no transparent and legal procedures.

The verdict issued today, July 4, 2024, has been grounded on the false and baseless charges of "Baghi" and on the pretext of Mrs. Sharifeh Mohammadi's membership in the “Coordinating Committee to Help Establish Labour Organizations", which has been an independent and open labour organization, a decade ago. This cruel sentence lacks the slightest human and legal basis and should be repealed immediately.

The Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company, has repeatedly expressed its opposition to the issuing of the medieval death sentences. The creation of scenarios against the labour and civil activists by the security agents, and considering the full dependency of the judges and the judiciary on the security institutions, has long gone beyond any limits and human principles and foundations, and the government must be held accountable for these cruel death sentences.

The syndicate calls on all workers and the independent labour and civil organizations and human rights defenders in Iran and around the world to strongly condemn the cruel death sentence against the labour and civil rights activist Sharifeh Mohammadi and demand the immediate repeal of this sentence and the unconditional release of her and all other labour and civic activists.
