PO (Argentina) Feedom for all detainees after May 1 in Türkiye
In the early hours of May 21, the government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan carried out a new wave of arrests against militants of the left and the labor movement, as part of a political persecution launched after the May 1 mobilization and the incidents with the police in Istanbul's Taksim Square. On May 2, there were 50 arrests (two of those people have already been released), to which there are now 27 new cases, including some colleagues from the Socialist Workers Party (SEP).
The Turkish government has been applying severe repression against workers, within the framework of worsening living conditions. “In Turkey, under Erdogan's government, the economy is deteriorating, marked by high costs of living and rapidly rising poverty. There is significant unrest among young people, serious financial problems among retirees and growing frustration among the working class as their salaries decline,” explains an article published by the Socialist Middle East portal .
We express our repudiation of the government's persecution and demand the freedom of all our detained comrades.
